In fact if you were to pull that HOSTS file out of \system\etc and place it in the requisite Windows folder (I think it's C:\Windows\System\drivers\etc) your computer will then do the same thing, block all the ads, or at least all the ad hosts named in the HOSTS file. They both gather HOSTS files from a few sources, merge them, and then place them in the right folder (\system\etc).
